Antoine Walker is headed to Puerto Rico

Remember Antoine Walker? The former NBA player who collected nearly $100 million during his playing career, only to now be in $4 million dollars in debt. He's now starting a comeback in professional basketball to work off some of that debt... to the tune of $7,000 a week in Puerto Rico.

According to reports coming out of the island, Walker's deal with the Guaynabo Mets is for one month, guaranteed, as they want to see what kind of shape he's in. He is reportedly being paid $7,000 a week. Another former NBA player, Marcus Fizer, also joined the Mets at the same time. They started the season 4-0 according to the standings posted on

If you think about it, that's a pretty ridiculous salary there, and it would be considered a dream job by most of us normal folks. The problem is, even at $7,000 a week, Walker's "salary" puts a very small dent in his actual debt. Poor Antoine, by all accounts a super nice guy who just had too many people clinging on to him and extravagant tastes. Bad money management means he'll be probably pulling off these desperate money acts for some time.
