The mascots for the Olympics...
Further proof the English are a little weird, here are the mascots for the Olympics...
The one-eyed figures, called Wenlock and Mandeville, were unveiled at an east London school on Wednesday with organisers hoping they will inspire a generation of children and persuade their parents to contribute the £15 million the mascots are slated to raise in merchandising revenue.

Canadians party to much for the Olympics
I find drinking and smoking female hockey players awesome, on so many levels, however the OIC might have to look into the celebration of the Canadian Women's hockey team after they defeated Team USA 2-0 and took the gold medal.
More than half an hour after they beat the United States 2-0 on Thursday, the players came back from the locker room and staged a party on ice — swigging from bottles of champagne, guzzling beer and smoking cigars.
In a sport that Canada invented, there was never an option besides gold, and with it finally in hand, the home team let loose.
Meghan Agosta and Marie-Philip Poulin posed wearing goofy grins. Rebecca Johnston actually tried to drive the ice-resurfacing machine. Haley Irwin poured champagne into the mouth of Tessa Bonhomme, gold medals swinging from both their necks.
The celebration raised eyebrows at the IOC, which said it would look into the matter. Informed of the antics by The Associated Press, Gilbert Felli, the IOC's executive director of the Olympic Games, said it was "not what we want to see."
"I don't think it's a good promotion of sport values," he said. "If they celebrate in the changing room, that's one thing, but not in public. We will investigate what happened."
Sure they'll have the Olympics in a country with severe human rights issues and look the other way, but if somebody drinks beer in an empty arena BY GOD they're going to protect the integrity of the games. It's the principle of the thing.
All I can say is God bless Canadians and these celebration photos. These are awesome... click on the "read more" to see the celebration photos.

Olympic skater says he wins platinum medal
Ahh, when the Olympics roll around, it's fun to hate the Russians. Especially when they win silver and then claim they won platinum.
Evgeni Plushenko, the much-decorated Russian figure skater who lost the gold in Vancouver to American Evan Lysacek, has apparently created a fourth kind of Olympic medal: A platinum one.
Evgeni, who blamed the judges for his near-miss effort at gold last week, has posted a picture of his "platinum" medal from Vancouver on his official Web site.
Oh man! That's classy! I wish more figure skaters would pull ridiculous moves like this. Pull a steel chair on a hated rival. Trash talking after a routine. You want to make figure skating more accessible to men? Do away with the tights and have the guys act selfish and angry all the time!
